Evens Prize for Peace Education
Every new edition of this biennial Prize has a specific focus. Since its inception in 2011, the topics included teachers training, school climate, social skills in early childhood, and sensitive topics in classroom.
The procedure comprises an open call launched in all the countries of the European Union and a first selection based on formal criteria, target group and general content of the submitted applications. All selected organizations are then visited by a staff member of the foundation and detailed visit reports are prepared for jury deliberations. The winner is selected by an independent international jury of experts.
The laureate receives a monetary prize of €25,000, part of which is dedicated to the dissemination of the award winning practice in Europe.
The award ceremony usually takes place in the country of the laureate, and all shortlisted candidates are invited to a seminar to exchange practices and visit the winner’s project. By bringing the participants together, the Prize offers an opportunity to create European peace education networks, thus contributing to a European movement for change.
