Evens Prize for Media Education

Evens Prize for Media Education
The aim of the Evens Prize for Media Education is to increase media literacy - by raising critical awareness, which implies comprehension and cultural awareness, and by encouraging media creativity, both of which contribute to the development of highly aware, active and responsible citizens.

Every two years the Prize is focused on a different, important and domain within contemporary media. For the last 7 years, the topics included media literacy of children, social media networks, visual literacy, critical attitude towards media.

The procedure comprises an open call launched in all the countries of the European Union and a first selection based on formal criteria, target group and general content of the submitted applications. All selected organizations are then visited by a staff member of the Evens Foundation and detailed visit reports are prepared for an international Jury deliberations.

The Jury assess all the proposals and select the laureate(s). The winner(s) are  invited to the Award Ceremony during the next Media Meets Literacy conference.

The prize money of 25,000€ can be used to further develop their project.
